Flooding Emergency Update 8
May 16, 2019 2:30 pm
As of Thursday, May 16, Municipal Boat Launches in Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay, Verner and Lavigne remain closed until further notice. Following a thorough inspection of the boat launches and a careful consideration for public safety, the conditions of the launches were deemed unsafe. We understand that given the long weekend, this may inconvenience some. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the public.
Residents using an alternate access to the Sturgeon River and Lake Nipissing are instructed to navigate with caution and to follow the 9 km/hr speed regulation. The slightest wake can cause damage to shoreline properties.
Municipal Boat Launch Closures:
- Marina Minnehaha Bay
- Sturgeon River House Museum
- Holditch Street in Sturgeon Falls
- Cache Bay (Both Municipal Launches)
- St-Jean, Verner Municipal Launch
- Lavigne Municipal Launch
There are no changes to road conditions to report at this time and road closures remain in effect. Residents in affected areas should be taking necessary precautions and planning accordingly, should road conditions worsen.
Emergency Services and Operations Crews continue to patrol and assess conditions daily. We will provide updates as new information becomes available.
For any flood related concerns or inquiries, contact the Municipality at 705.753.1171.
