Dangerous Ice Conditions on Lake Nipissing

For immediate release

GATINEAU, Quebec, January 27, 2016 – Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public to exercise caution near the shorelines, lakes and rivers in the Lake Nipissing area as ice may be unstable. Dangerous conditions exist due to ice formation combined with high water levels on Lake Nipissing.

Furthermore, PSPC would like to remind residents in the watershed that the current run-off flows are cold and fast moving. Streams and lakes should be avoided.

PSPC will continue to monitor weather forecasts, river flows and water levels. For more detailed information on water level and flow in this area, please visit our Water Level and Flow Information webpage.

This notice will remain in effect until conditions change.
