    Re-use Program

    Paint can be dropped off and introduced into the Re-use Program. Good quality household products such as paint, stains, varnishes and cleaners can be picked up by residents, free of charge.

    Environmental Services

    The Municipality of West Nipissing owns and operates landfill sites in Badgerow Township, Field, Kipling, Lavigne, River Valley, Sturgeon Falls and Verner. The operating costs of these sites are paid by the users and collected by the municipality through the municipal tax bill.

    How to get there: from River Valley, follow Highway 539 A north, turn left at Alphonse Road, follow to end of road



    Kipling Site, 124 Deer Lake Road

    How to get there: landfill site is situated off Highway 17 between Verner and Warren on Deer Lake Road north, approximately 2 kms from Highway 17 on right hand side



    Muskasung Site, 142 Muskasung Road

    How to get there: from Field, proceed south on Highway 575 towards Verner. Turn left at Muskasung Lake Road, site gate located on right hand side.


    Leaf and Yard Waste

    Upcoming Collection: Monday, June 15, 2020 

    The collection will take place in the urban areas of Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay and Springer.

    Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, small branches (no longer than 2 feet in length), brush and other organic material.

    Leaf and Yard Waste Collection 

    Residents within the urban area of Cache Bay, Springer and Sturgeon falls receive curbside leaf and yard waste pick up on the first double digit Monday of the month from April until November.

    2020 Collection Dates

    Note that due to COVID-19 and impacted services these dates are subject to change.

    Place materials in paper yard waste bags, or in an open top container with handles.
    Garbage bags and plastic bags will not be accepted.
    Leaf and yard waste mixed with other garbage will not be collected.

    You may also bring these items to the Landfill.
    (Sturgeon Falls Landfill will reopen on Monday, May 11th).

    • Straw, corn stalks, pumpkin
    • Branches shorter than 2 feet in length (placed in yard waste bags or tied/bundled)

    • Rocks, soil, sod
    • Stumps, trunks, logs
    • Branches larger than 2 feet in length
    • Driveway sweepings
    • Flower pots, plastic bags
    • Kitchen scraps
    • Applicances or other recyclable material

  • Blue Box Program

    The desired curbside situation is two streams clearly separated, with all dry paper recyclables neatly placed in a Blue Box, cardboard box, paper bag or tightly tied bundle. 

    Placed right next, a second stream, consisting of a mix of container recyclables (plastics, glass and metals). Contained in either a second Blue Box or a clear plastic bag(s).

    In Home Recycling Program

    Designate an area in your home for storage of the recycled material.

    1. Distinguish what can and cannot go in your blue box (see below)
    2. Establish a routine of separating your household waste from the recycled materials
    3. Mark down on a calendar the bi-weekly schedule of the curb side pick up. (every second week)
    4. Place your recyclables at the curb no earlier than 7pm on the eve and no later than 7am on the morning of. Please seperate the papers from your glass, cans and plastics.

    ALL Landfill Sites have RECYCLING BINS for cardboard, newspapers, glass, tin, aluminum and plastics. They are accessible during hours of operation.
