Facilities open to the public for relief of forest fire smoke

Environment Canada has issued a Special air quality statement for West Nipissing, due to forest fire smoke causing poor air quality. Please be advised that within the next few days, West Nipissing may experience increased smoke conditions due to the change in wind pattern. Starting Tuesday, July 31st, the Municipality of West Nipissing will be making the following facilities temporarily accessible to the public, to offer residents a relief from the smoke. The facilities will provide a cool area, to do some walking indoors and provide relief from the smoke.
Sturgeon Falls Arena Floor (219 O'Hara St. entrance): 12PM– 8PM
Verner Area Floor (80 Principal St.): 12 PM – 8PM
Lavigne Community Centre: Monday to Friday from 10AM – 12PM & 12:30PM – 3PM

We will continue to monitor the air quality and will advise the public as to how long the facilities will be open for this purpose.
