May 27 - Municipal parks, sports fields and courts open with restrictions

Notice on Outdoor Amenities

In response to the Province's first stage of its reopening plan, the Municipality is opening access to some parks and outdoor space amenities.

Important Reminders

Provincial Emergency Orders remain in place, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people outside of your household. This applies to all public use of opened outdoor park facilities. To allow for physical distancing and to limit the spread of COVID-19 when using outdoor recreation amenities, maintain a safe distance from others, avoid picking up someone else’s sports equipment, and wash your hands often.

Parks, Tennis Courts and Sports Fields

Access to outdoor parks facilities is permitted for casual and individual use, and non-contact activities such as walking, running or biking through.

The use of tennis courts and multi-use fields will also be permitted for unorganized, casual play by individuals.  Physical distancing must be respected and restrictions on gatherings remain in effect, prohibiting team play and groups of more than 5.

Plans are underway to reopen the skateboard park.

Beaches, Splash Pads and Playgrounds

Provincial orders remain in effect, prohibiting the use of beaches, public washrooms, play structures, slides, swings, and splash pads.
