On behalf of the municipality of West Nipissing, the Public Works Department is responsible for the following functions and services:
- Road maintenance, shoulders and right of ways
- Snow and ice removal
- Water main – maintenance and repair
- Sanitary sewers – maintenance and repair
- Pothole repair and emergency response to clear obstructed roadways
- Street names and regulatory sign repairs, replacements and installation
- Storm water
- Street sweeping
- Gravel patching
- Dust control
- Resurfacing
- Ditching
- Culverts and bridges

- Assistance in utility construction and repair
- Installation, repair, and maintenance of storm water systems
- Retention pond maintenance
- Equipment maintenance
- Patrolling, grading, brushing and weed control
- Garage operations
- Road cleaning
